This project involved structural renovations and the fabrication and installation of approximately 80 tons of structural steel. A new rooftop pool frame was added with columns as tall as the building, that were carefully installed through very tight clearances, then topped off with ¾” plate for stainless steel pool. A new high roof was added to give future residents spectacular Capitol views. Renovation work included GPR surveying of existing concrete columns and installing new epoxy anchors and steel plates to attach new steel beams. Several crane mobilizations were needed to fit steel in through window openings and install structural beams from the bottom instead of from the top (which would be a lot easier). OIW counted on real-time field updates and precise field measurements to custom make each piece of steel to ensure the correct fit.
